Secretary Renée Leone
Renée Leon is Secretary of the Department of Employment responsible for workplace relations policy and employment services. Renée has served as Deputy Secretary in the Attorney-General’s Department and in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. She also spent three years as Chief Executive of the Act Department of Justice and Community Safety.Renée was awarded a Public Service Medal in 2013 for outstanding public service to public administration and law in leadership roles in the Australian Capital Territory and the Commonwealth.
Dr Stefan Hajkowicz, Principal Scientist
Dr Stefan Hajkowicz is a senior principal scientist working in the field of strategic foresight at CSIRO and leads the Data61 Insight Team. Stefan’s research and consulting work helps companies, governments and communities explore plausible futures and make wise strategic choices. Stefan is a world leading scholar in the field of decision theory and has published seminal works on the use multi-objective decision support. His decision models have guided investments worth hundreds of millions of dollars and have been used by Australia’s State and Federal Governments to make critical policy choices. Stefan is widely published in the international research literature and his most recent book titled “Global Megatrends” is available through CSIRO Publishing. Stefan has a doctorate in geography from the University of Queensland and postgraduate qualifications in economics from the University of New England. He is a current and recent member of the OECD and World Economic Forum global strategic foresight communities.
Adjunct Professor David Caple
David has been a Director of David Caple & Associates Pty Ltd since 1984 and manages major Work Health and Safety (WHS) research and practice projects funded by Governments and industry groups in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Having completed his science studies in Australia and ergonomics at Loughborough University, UK, David has been a guest researcher in Sweden and USA. He is a Certified Practicing Ergonomist (CPE) in Australia, UK and USA. David Caple was the 16th President of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) 2006-2009. He was the Chair of the IEA International Development Committee and Past President of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia (HFESA). He was also the Chair of the IEA 2009 Congress International Advisory Committee in Beijing, China. Published research papers have been in the areas of ergonomics and occupational health and safety relating to prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, and change management in small, medium and large enterprises. Since 2000 David has been involved in the development of the WHS Strategy for large government departments and private companies. In 2012 he was the facilitator for the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012 – 2022. Since 2014 David has facilitated many of the Safe Work Australia online seminar series on emerging WHS issues.
